Lego Party

Hi Party Fans

My little valentine and little sunshine just turned 5 and 3. As they have been playing with blocks at Childcare, I thought why not having a Lego Party to celebrate their combined birthday this year.

Please visit "bakingmummy" for more party cakes and treats. The following is my interpretation of Lego and we hope you enjoy as much as we did.

The main inspiration came from “Sarah at Crackers Art”; as I like the backdrop of the dessert table. Unfortunately, she is no longer selling this particular themed printable. I had to come up with the backup – DIY that is. I went to several Etsy stores to create the personal printable for my boy and girl; they are “SilhouetteAndCo”, “KiddosCo”, “Madscrapper”, “Paper4download”, IncolorCreativeLines”. Although it took me months to finalise everything and set to print, it was hard work totally worth it.

The end result was whimsical and vibrant to reflect on decorations, foods, drinks, and tasty treats. We had a themed dessert station, drink station, kid's food station, guestbook table and children's table.  I would only focus on the decorations and printable here.

We also had some fun activities to keep little guests engaged when they weren't building with their Lego. My little sunshine was very lucky to pull the Lego piñata opened without giving her and her big brother’s friends a turn (she was the second one to pull the string). However, we had an outdoor activity. Kids were welcomed to play in the portable pool to cool a bit during summer time here.

Party things to look out for:

1. Lego Party Entrance (DIY Lego Box)
2. Lego Washroom Sign
3. Lego Piñatas
4. Lego Boy and Girl Wall Printable
5. Lego Boy Drink Dispensers
6. Lego bubbles
7. DIY napkin, plates and folk holders
8. Lego themed party bags (Lego pencil case, pencil, earser, notebook, pen, name bag tag, A box of Lego and a plate, drinking cup)
9. Lego Match Candy box

It took nearly a year to get everything planned and organised. However, I can’t imagine any other ways. It was a success for fellow Mums and Dads as well as our little ones. My friends already asked what I will plan next year. I really have to start planning I guess if I want to outdo this one.

Thank you for sharing a piece of sweet memory again. Hope to see you soon, which will be my 40th.

Happy partying

The Great Gatsby Themed Party

Hi All

I am so excited to share with you how I organised a surprised 40th birthday bash for my husband early this month. I am so in love with anything vintage, glamour and festivities as you all know. How can I miss the opportunity to celebrate all things Gatsby-style! They are only a few steps on how to throw an incredible party where you can celebrate with your family and friends in style. After all, a little party never kill anyone...

Invitation and Printable
I wanted the whole party reflecting back to the invitation, so I googled all the art deco inspired invitations online but couldn't find what I want, due to the tone and the wording like Roaring 20s or Fabulous 40s were not what I had in mind for my husband. I had a version to cooperate gold, white, blue and a little bit black into the whole decorations because I had some beautiful blue vases and jars, that I want to arrange the white feathers with, in order to create that luxury setting of The Great Gatsby party.

Hence, I bought some clipart from different artisans to form an invitation of my own. All these images were later using on the design of the cake, dessert table tags, The Great Gatsby famous quotes, favor tags, bar menu etc. I then arranged the invitation inside a laser cut gatefold pocket with gold insert as the backdrop.

Venue and Decor
I looked for a venue that the existing furnishings can actually reflect on the theme, so I could save more from hiring bigger setups for the party. I was lucky to found my local Tavern offered that quality solid leather couches, red plush dining chairs and dark timber flooring. It's perfect to accommodate my blue jars with white feathers and vintage martini glasses centrepiece.

You could also see the vintage illuminate marquee letters spells the word "PAUL 40" at the background one side and the lighted sign box with the message says "Happy birthday Paul #40" the other side of the background.

I will take this opportunity to thank the venue "Runcorn Tavern" for their cooperation. It was such a successful celebration. Paul was totally shocked and surprised. I will definitely recommend them to you for their services. The food was great and generous too. The staff and the chef were friendly and the party was running smoothly.

Game Station
I did consider a few options to entertain our guests but with some restraints from the venue, I finally settled on bringing over my own casino table for the adult guests. The little guests got a great time with the bubble machine you could see in the photo.

Cake, Mocktail and Dessert Table
Please check out bakingmummy's website for more information. Could you tell that the cake stand was kind of unique? It's one of a kind because I made it just for this party. The vintage car next to the cake unfortunately was a 1930s model because I could not find a 1920s model, as I only realised I had a vintage car in the invitation and I wanted one for the party.

I did have several breakages while arranging everything into its place. However, every dessert was still nicely displayed on the beautiful serving trays and plates.

Menu
It was an open bar on the night. We didn't run out of champagne and it's the number 1 rule for organising a Great Gatsby party. We had a waitress serving champagne all night. I had a giant champagne glass with some rocky candy sticks so the guests can put into their champagne, besides kids love to eat them. It's a win-win situation.

The only difference I had was to choose BBQ for dinner instead of having canapés and little bites. I really don't like our guests to go home hungry. The guests were very happy with the menu.

Others
There was something extra and special too. I had a station for people to type their birthday messages for Paul using my vintage typewriter. The poloroid camera was out of the era but the guests had a great fun with it too. All the warm messages and photos were great fun to have and we would definitely treasure for life.

I also had some beautiful mini champagne to give our guests at the end of the party. They were absolutely adorable and perfect bomboniere for a Great Gatsby party.

If you want more information about how to organise a Great Gatsby party for yourself or your beloved ones like mine, you can find more information from "Vivo Masks".

It look me months of planning, collecting decorative items, arranging them, hiding them from Paul and implementing them without him finding out. He was totally stocked and told me how could he top that when I am 40??? Blah, blah, blah...I told him he can hire me to plan my own party.

I love my job although working from home with two young kids, which some people think it's not a job. Or I should say I love planning, baking, living in a dream, being a good and loving person. ;-)

Ralph Lauren Polo Party

Horse Piñata

Hi Everyone

The time has come! I can't believe Miss Ellie is one while Mister Jeremy is 3. As Jeremy and Ellie's birthdays are only 11 days apart, I had a combined party for them. How to bring a theme that can reflect both genders is a challenge. Then I noticed one of the gifts that my parents bought Ellie and Jeremy - a Ralph Lauren dress and a T-shirt. I know this is it!

Party highlights to look out for:

1. Party invitation: the horseman inspired T-shirt invitation in a shopping paper bag that also applied to the favor bags.

2. Printable: horseman chocolate bar wrappers, water labels, balloons, favour boxes, VIP passes, Ralph Lauren polo shirt thank you notes and wooden spoons

3. Social media photo booth props and signs

4. Recreational test area / props

5. High chair number bunting: these shabby fabric flag banners are so nostalgic and whimsical with a little vintage flair...and perfectly sized for highchairs and cake smash sessions at our party.

6. Mini glitter party hat with pink ruffle trim and pom

3. Prints/Signs: Officeworks and Vistaprint

You can see our cakes and desserts via bakingmummy website. I cannot wait to show you what we did on the actual birthday of Miss Ellie at home.

Thank you by stopping by. See you next time!

2015 Halloween Party

Hi Everyone

It's too much excitement in my household to prepare and help Miss Ellie to celebrate her first Halloween Costume Party.

She was a Baby Princess Elsa, Mister Jeremy was a half Knight (he refused to put his mask on and not to carry a Spatha), Daddy Paul supposed to be a Caesar but changed to be a Skeleton at the last minute and I was a Queen Elsa (oh yeah, I wore her signature wig).

My dear friends Claire and Yvone helped to prepare themed party food and drinks this year. They were healthy and delicious for our children. For more information from the party, I will post on "巧比生活坊".

Back to my party preparations, I am so in love with using the clipart printable since 2014, I haven’t actually using my Stampin Up stamps for a while. This year, I have this Halloween Spider Cider mason jar DIY to pin up the drinks with the themed straws! The rest would be free printable from the Internet (thanks to all artists shown below for their generosity), and store bought decorations with a bit of twist or minor changes to suit the atmosphere I want to show i.e. cute, classy and not too spooky to scare our children.

Free printable:
1. thegraphicsfairy.com - on the beers and the witches ball sign
2. skiptomylou.org - on the wine and the cola
3. koriclark.com - please take one and run sign
4. pnpflowersinc.com - something wicked this way comes
5. scrapbooking.craftgossip.com- dress up a halloweenie template
6. www.talkcraftytome.com - the banner

I hope I have shown and credited all the artists here. I love preparing Halloween party. I cannot wait for doing it all over again next year.

If you want to hire any props you see here, feel free to contact me via Facebook or email.  Until then, thank you for sharing this story with me.

Happy partying
